How to create wireless network without a router

Wireless networks are computer networks through which computers can connect to each other. i.e. form a network. Networking allows you to share internet connection, files, multimedia and documents with the devices connected to it. This gives a good advantage if you have many computers as you do not have to subscribe to an internet service provider of each of the computers. i.e. you need only one subscription. This is extremely helpful if you use internet using the wireless modems. Making a wireless network will allow you to use that internet connection in all the devices you have that support the Wi-Fi system. This guide will help you set up a wireless network without using a router.



What a wireless router does is that it turns itself into an access point so that other devices can connect to it wirelessly. The same concept applies here. You need to make a computer with Wi-Fi capabilities into a wireless access point. That's it. You have set up a Wi-Fi network without a router. After that all your mobile phones, laptops, iPads, tablets and other gadgets can use the internet on your computer and also share files to and from your computer. The wireless network created works exactly the way a normal wireless network that was set up using a router would work. Now that's interesting! Isn't it?

To set up a wireless access point, we are going to use a software that will turn one of your computers or laptops into an access point. There are several softwares that we can use to set up an access point. I have had the best experience with connectify. Though you have to pay some money to unlock all its features for monitoring purposes, you can still use it to create an access point and it will just work as efficient as it would when you have a paid version. You can download this software from here and install it. After installing it, you will have to restart your computer. Once you have done it, you will see connectify on the taskbar. You can make your wireless networks, configure them, add passwords and all sort of stuff from there.

Another software like connectify, but this time free, is also another good software that is extremely easy to use. WiFi HotSpot Creator. You can download it from here for free.Once you have downloaded it, install it and run it. Now put in your network name (Any that you prefer) and enter the passphrase then select from where do you want to get internet connection and click on start. There you go! You have now set up your own wireless network.
